The 7-Point Ai Visibility Checklist.

The same checklist we run on day one of every engagement. Work through it in 30 minutes — fix what you can, hire us for the rest.

  1. 01

Open your robots.txt to the Ai crawlers

Explicitly allow GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended. Many sites accidentally block them via default WordPress or security-plugin rules.

Why: If the bots that feed ChatGPT and Claude can't read your site, you don't exist as far as those assistants are concerned.

  2. 02

Add LocalBusiness or Organization JSON-LD schema

Drop a single <script type="application/ld+json"> block on every page with the schema.org/LocalBusiness type, your name, address, phone, opening hours, and service areas.

Why: Ai assistants prefer sources they can parse cleanly. Schema is the cleanest signal you can give them about who you are and what you sell.

  3. 03

Publish a /sitemap.xml and reference it in robots.txt

List every page worth quoting. Most CMSes generate this — verify it exists, returns 200, and contains your service pages, not just blog posts.

Why: Crawlers (Ai and otherwise) use sitemaps to discover what's worth indexing. Without one, deep pages get missed.

  4. 04

Tighten your homepage title and meta description

Title: 30–60 characters with your name, what you do, and where. Meta description: one clean sentence the Ai can quote verbatim.

Why: Ai assistants frequently quote the meta description word-for-word as your business summary. Make it the answer you'd want shown.

  5. 05

Complete and verify your Google Business Profile

Categories (primary + 2 secondary), full address, hours, photos, posts within the last 90 days, and your service area defined. Verify if you haven't.

Why: Google Ai Overviews pull heavily from GBP. Incomplete profiles get demoted; missing photos and recent posts especially hurt.

  6. 06

Get a steady drip of fresh reviews

Aim for 2–4 new reviews per month minimum, on Google + one vertical site (Healthgrades, Realtor.com, etc.). Set up a one-tap link in every post-job email.

Why: Recency matters more than total count. A business with 50 reviews and one in the last 6 months looks dead to the Ai.

  7. 07

Audit your citations across major directories

Confirm your Name, Address, and Phone (NAP) match exactly on Yelp, Apple Maps, BBB, and the top 2–3 directories in your vertical. Fix any drift.

Why: Conflicting NAP entries are a strong signal to Ai that your business listing might be stale or duplicated — and downgrades trust accordingly.
